Indian Food

When I started dating my boyfriend, he suggested Indian food for one of our early dates.

Important background information: I have the spice tolerance of a Victorian child.

In that moment, the options I had went beyond just eating Indian food. I had a choice that I could continue to be a picky eater, or I could choose to be someone who tries new things.

Plot twist: Indian food is now one of my favorites.

In that moment I didn’t want to continue to be limited by the same mindsets I had previously put on myself. I didn’t want to be known again as someone who doesn’t try new things. It was a chance for me to show up as the person I view myself as now.

You are constantly choosing who you are. The past versions of you do not define you. The little and big choices you make every day have longterm impacts on who you are. You can’t reach all your goals overnight, but you can take steps.

The version of you who previously existed doesn't need to define the version of you who exists now. You aren’t trapped by the choices you made when you were younger. Growth means we change. Sometimes you might need a change in environment to really bloom. You might have reached all you can within the current soil you have been planted in. But you are capable of becoming the person you feel God has called you to be.

Don’t let yourself miss out on who you were called to be just because of who you were.
