don’t stay in it
I’ve been spending significant time reflecting on our control over our emotions and mental health. One of the things I have been thinking about is how what you choose to focus on drives how you live.
The Bible talks about this constantly but for some reason it’s still a mystery to us.
When you choose to focus on the things that are broken in this world you will crumble.
Change your focus.
Focus on what is true.
Focus on what is noble.
Focus on what is lovely.
Focus on what is admirable.
Focus on your gratitude.
When you make your thinking intentional you take back control of your mind. You are not a victim to your thoughts. You have choices and you have control over what you focus on.
No, that doesn’t mean your circumstance will change, but your perspective on life will when you take back control of your mind.
It isn’t comfortable to recognize that we are responsible for how we think, but the reality is we are. You can choose to allow your thoughts and patterns to continue replaying, and to stay stuck in the same cycles, or you can choose to make changes. You can choose to live your life or you can choose to be a victim. But you are making a choice. You are not forced to a certain fate just because of your circumstances or experiences.
God’s goodness is not dependent on your circumstances working out comfortably. God’s goodness continues and is undisputed even when our circumstances are dark. In the midst of the most horrific aspects of life, God stays sovereign and God stays good. When our focus is on that, the lies of the enemy fail to have any power.
Make your choice.
You control your mind.
